Where walls get touched, use a 100% acrylic in eggshell or satin. Wash flat paint and it goes patchy or rubs off. Eggshell and satin take a damp sponge. Kompozit PRO comes in both, and its satin repels dirt.
Which sheen where
- Hallways and entries: eggshell, or satin if they take a beating.
- Kids' rooms: satin. Crayon and hands come off easier.
- Kitchens and baths: satin.
- Doors, trim and handrails: semi-gloss.
- Ceilings: flat.
How to wash a painted wall
- Don't wash fresh paint for four weeks. It's still curing.
- Use warm water, a little dish soap and a soft sponge.
- Try a hidden spot first.
- Wipe, don't scour. Abrasive pads leave shiny patches on any sheen.
- Rinse with clean water and let it air dry.
How much to buy
A gallon covers 300 to 400 square feet per coat. A 4 by 20 foot hallway with 8 foot ceilings has about 384 square feet of wall. Two coats come to 768 square feet, so buy three gallons. That's $174 and clears free delivery.

Questions we get
Is satin more washable than eggshell?
Yes. The higher the sheen, the better it takes wiping.
Will touch-ups show?
Touch-ups blend best in flat and eggshell. On satin, paint the whole wall from corner to corner.
Can I match a color from another brand?
Yes. Send us the color name or code and we mix it in Brooklyn.
